Meticulously curating

So you have people who work in the upper crust and lets for fun say they love to wear a skivvy. Then their socials which are meticulously curated have other skivvy wearers making skivvys from upcycled materials for other skivvy wearers. On paper it is all meant to be feel good and a way to save the world from oblivion but when you look at it closely you come to realise:

The boat is sinking and the only people allowed on the life raft have to be wearing an upcycled skivvy. Everyone else is by default meant to go down with the ship. They are expendable. Not only curated out of the picture but never considered. For if we don’t broaden our focus from calculation to curiosity we miss the point of who we are, which is sadly saying we are definitely not ‘them’.

We did everything in our power to not be them or be anything like them. Our focus is laser sharp. To paraphrase George Orwell talking about class distinctions, or skivvy distinctions, to be able to truly change these things we have to change ourselves so we are no longer recognisable as ourselves. That is almost impossible to do as we spend so much time simply curating who we are and what we believe.

Our truth is worth fighting for, we spend a lifetime fashioning this truth, yet at the same time we don’t realise the limits imposed by what we believe in a world where ideas are like points on a map. The map by the way is the entire Earth and the entirety of humanity. We carry around a lot of ideas that are not even our own to begin with. They come from think tanks and policy makers and geopolitical manoeuvres.

Yet to conclude we are most afraid of change and collectively we are disconnected from each other through self so how can anything change if we can’t connect with what is not our particular self? All of these distinct selves guarantee that nothing can change collectively. Collectivity isn’t who is wearing the upcycled skivvy or Nautica jacket or whatever defines you. All of these groups are just hoping that they get the preference for buying into their plot on the map. Just remember the map is bigger than all of us.

  1. I’ve always had a thing for black turtleneck skivvies. Will you still talk to me?

Or will I ever talk to you? I am beginning to see the power behind dressing like an art fag.
