I REPEAT ZAPGALAXY.COM IS LIVE

Romanian born ZAP is probably best known for his iconic graffiti and street art which has graced the walls of Australia for the past 25 years. Influenced by the work of Sci-Fi comic artists such as Dan Barry (Flash Gordon) and Joe Doolin (Planet Comics) as well as the bold shapes found in the early works of the New York Graff scene, ZAP constructs environments based both in architecture and character which exemplify the idea of the fantastic.

Full on bastion of conservatism

Sent new piece to ekosystem , they haven’t wanted to support mentally ill aerosol work. I know it is hard, it seems that the only way is to keep pushing it. The last pieces I have done have been rejected, they have been obviously mental, I understand in a way. People want certain standards etc, I hope to get my stuff into galleries anyway. It is funny that aerosol culture is still a bastion of conservatism. The works are not very good as I let them go in a certain direction but they deserve to be seen, so my site will be the best place I guess. Couldn’t care less really, I like mental work it gets people out of their comfort zone. Moderation is best though. It even freaks me out sometimes.

Raspberry Pi

I just ordered a Raspberry Pi computer board. I once again feel like I am getting out of my comfort zone having stayed in the world of i386 computers into a small ARM processor, this will be all new and I hope it isn’t a headache. I want to set up the text to speech program and have a script running so the files will be read, luckily there is a lot of help files on the Pi so here’s to new territory!!! A new project, these boards are the future really.

I also wanted to add that this year has been exciting for tech, the Raspberry Pi the main exciting bit but also the new small factor tablets that are cheap. It is an exciting time to be alive. So much digital content too.

Echo chamber

The problem with so much social media is it becomes an echo chamber. In some ways that is good as you can immerse yourself in an interest which is why I like twitter and google plus. Twitter can be immersive with my interests in coding, psychiatry and it can go out of the scope of an echo chamber, google plus for me is just linux interests so that is quite good. Facebook tends to be the most echoey as it an agreeable structure for friends and family but like the family dinner best done every now and then. They all have their pros and cons. You can just immerse yourself, I admit I like it, I was happy though to listen to a programming podcast and get out of my comfort zone, it was ruby rogues and it is quite diverse. That in itself made it challenging because I am a novice at coding and there is a whole subculture there but I got that book from it. Good. I know nothing about ruby, funnily enough the podcast was recommended from a magazine, good. I liked the thread that formed.
But it shows that traditional media can get you out of the echo chamber of social media, that is good for myself because I think I have been just reading tweets that don’t move out into a wider context but go to x. This is something I will try to remember, magazines are always good. Especially linux journal, complex but far reaching.
