A friend was telling me about his friend’s cat that lost its mind. It had a massive cat fight but it was separated by a glass door from its foe. The cat completely snapped from frustration and attacked its owner, not once but constantly. He took it to the vet and the vet said put the cat in a quiet room away from any stimulus. He tried to feed the cat in the quiet room and it kept attacking him. The cat had officially lost its mind.

I find the parallels to the online world are not much different. People trade their virtual blows where nothing real happens and they lose their minds. I have met people for example who can’t behave in a socially cohesive way and try to road test ideas they got straight from online sources and online debates. It works both ways from any extreme. Certain words become behavioural triggers rather than a word.

One example was someone who disliked a certain group of people. All they posted on their stories was about this specific group over and over again day in and day out. I also followed people from the group in question as I follow a lot of people and normally these people rarely posted anything. Rarely when they did it was about a restaurant they visited. Obviously these examples are just random things I have noticed and I don’t claim to have the last word.

But what I have noticed is an uptick in abnormal behaviour created by frustrations that I believe are mostly from experiences that are not real. Take for example A.I movies about specific scenarios that do not exist but are in the vein of ‘this is what’s coming’. It builds a false sense of urgency and discomfort about events that have happened or will happen. The events that have happened could be snapshots of the group in question amassed on the street.

I mean the exact context is never discussed and instead it is generalised as the norm, as though mobs of people are always ready and around every corner. There was a massive influx of migrants into Spain recently, nobody asks who supplied the boats, how long the event went on for. People pointed out, how did they get brand new boats to then raid the Spanish territory in question. Considering Spain is in the general bad books of you know who. You could probably surmise it is a covert operation by those guys that we won’t mention rather than an event triggered by Spanish immigration policies.

That’s the point though, there are a lot of hands in the game but the stuff that you are separated from by distance, (a glass door), or whatever is simply going to frustrate you and in the end possibly make you behave like less of the human you can be, by dealing with the world you do have access to.
