fluffing around

I decided to retire my old Windows machine, also it is still supported but is a massive tower and I do very little on it these days anyway. My Linux box is getting old too but it’s got a lot more grunt so it should see out the year or a bit more. Later in the year I will look into getting a new desktop of some description. I am not travelling next year or at least that’s what I think at the moment. I just want a bit more storage for files overall. I can either go budget or go premium, I do less and less on computers overall. Mostly just archiving.

I find drawing and real world activities more compelling but it’s nice to have options for digital. Although even my video work is pretty light going for most low end machines these days. I am not that into the latest and greatest. Still happy on HD video although I can cut 4K with ease on bang average machines. Maybe you have to wait 20 minutes or so but I can do a drawing while waiting or make tea. I haven’t made an interesting video since 2021, I just haven’t had any interesting material pop up or grab me.

I kind of replaced my massive tower with a small Raspberry Pi with similar specs and a nice keyboard. So far my MacBook is the gateway to industry standard software and that is a pipsqueak but it’s got more behind it than the tower. The problem today is computers have become boring to the point that almost any machine can do almost anything within reason. I feel like I am just a low spec kind of user these days.
