It was a scary drive into the Kunlun mountains. The roads were difficult. On the way back it was dark and a dust storm hit hard.
When in the mountains there was a beautiful energy. When on a pilgrimage you will be tested. I wasn’t sure I would make it back in one piece. The journey there was quite hazardous but once there it was serene. The area is cool and arid. We were over 3000 metres above sea level. One of our peers got altitude sickness back in Golmud and had to stay in the hotel to recover. She was a new recruit to the Laozi academy and we brought oxygen just in case. Luckily we were all fine and got back in one piece.
