Not to preach but I have a zero alcohol zero drug policy. When I see old heads on the streets struggling with mental illness living in a bus stop I try to say don’t drink, stay away from weed. I try not to preach but it is a good policy to let your mind off the hook especially if you already have issues. I found cutting out alcohol really helped but it is a slow process especially with underlying issues. Sometimes the anti-psychotic drugs take ages to actually work and there are times when they fail to work effectively. I have been lucky in that I was patient and kept chipping away at it. In total it took almost a decade to get the anti-psychotics right, I guess I am patient.
