Some people see China as a counterpoint to the US, in that China has been investing in infrastructure projects worth around 8 trillion dollars and the US has spent the same amount of money on wars. I also saw some criticism of China who will deal with any country if there is mutual respect. For example China will trade with countries that may be in the bad books for serious international crimes, you probably already know which country in particular I am talking about.

So you could say there are serious contradictions in the counterpoint status, or you could say its paraconsistent logic, yet simply it is just practical. If you build good relationships even with the worst people and it works then maybe something good is happening. Nothing can be 100% bad even for a lot of strong reasons. Making things that work is key. In some ways cutting people off completely only works when there are zero mutual benefits for all parties involved and it creates deep division.

I am not convinced though like a lot of people are that China is trying to save the world, it is more like the country is trying to maximise benefits that can spill over. Australia knows this only too well, our trade with China has been beneficial for the country and China is the one with the deficit from Australia. Yet it keeps a positive model alive. Both countries are dedicating time and resources for trade. Also it depends on what is being traded. Australia was seen as selling military parts to the unnamable country.

Is that essentially bad? Most likely. Yet with Australia wanting to sell weapons and military gear it is going to kill someone at some point. It is a bad idea yet the government was keen to turn a profit on killing people. I digress, I have been to China three times and from what I can tell they need as much connection to the rest of the world as possible. They need to keep building. Although in some ways I wish it was a little slower. China really does need to deal with the whole world because the country needs to keep developing. The rest of the world though should take note. Go for mutual benefit if you can.
