With Taoist celibacy, it isn’t tied into Christian ideas of sin, it is about the three treasures, Jing, Qi and Shen. The point is to covet life energy rather than release it. If you want to have a family you have to release it because your life energy becomes a physical being. You only have a certain amount of Jing, Qi and Shen available to you, so the Taoist tries to create more life energy to extend their life. It is more about self mastery and having control over your desires. Desire and all that goes with it, if not mastered leads to external control, you will always be trying to find comfort in desire which is a repetitive and addictive process with no end. It is like ending a basic cycle of external control and taking control within yourself.
