Safe spaces

Over the years I have written about street art and graffiti on this blog. My main criticism of street art was its commercial aspect. Now after having been part of a festival I can see the positives. The main one is the inclusion of women artists. These events give women a great platform to share their art. It is also a place that addresses safety. From safe practices to a safe space. I think these two alone have impressed me greatly. Also it is a way to have a social connection with communities and places. Graffiti isn’t big on female participation or safety. I still feel that what I have shared on both opposing practices is still valid. But now I have an inside perspective which is valuable.
