In a lot of ways the idolisation, fantasised and mediated lavish world of popular entertainment breeds so much resentment and self loathing. This illusion of having unlimited desire is a lot of time a breeding ground for racism and disappointment as people see the other as their potential play thing or eternally out of reach fantasy. Because they can never have this illusion in reality it can be mimicked in many ways. Although the person playing this game knows it is not ‘the real thing’ and it is a poor substitute.
The real thing over all is disappointment and a lack of genuine human interaction, replaced with a desire that can never be met even by those who are the entertainment giants. The economic market is simply numbers propped up by mixed feelings. The solution to knowing the unattainability of the others desire or our own desire is not saying it is an illusion, because that is the most important factor that drives us but knowing our own physical limits and needs for ‘the real’ as opposed to ‘the real thing’.
The real then as opposed to ‘things’ outside us that are false idols can be replaced by the knowledge that the disappointment in us should be a catalyst to once again live within our bodies in a sense of practical self creation. So even if you became the entertainer, rather than sell a false set of promises (the forever libidinal body, edited stages, largesse etc) you find a self outside of sold fantasies and sell self worth.
