The dystopian narratives that kind of cycle and have gained traction in Western countries, like ‘climate change is not real’ but we are all going to die from climate change anyway. Like it is too late to fix, or machines are going to destroy humanity or whatever because it is a smorgasbord of grisly endings is not how the rest of the world is thinking.

When I went to China in 2019 and 2023 the sheer scale of renewables was mind boggling. Whole arid areas turned into wind farms that cover hundreds of kilometres if not overall tens of thousands of kilometres. If the western narrative is so fixated on fractured disunity on every topic the rest of the world is getting on with dealing with water security and renewables as the idiots in Australia get excited by immigration which is quite high after Covid.

Rather than anything real it is a shitshow of news cycles, click bait and general stupidity which knows no end. Most leaders just say whatever will get them into the top job with policies that are somewhat hot button topics and hot air. The good news is if the west does destroy itself at least the rest of the world can get on with improving the plight of their people and humanity in general. Rather than unilateralism we can have a multilateral world that is constructive and isn’t like a bad Netflix drama.

The saddest thing is all of the narratives that have made so many people switch off the news or love it has nothing to do with the greater world and where humanity is headed. If the west is not about being constructive it only reflects back on itself. If the narrative is war, destruction, envy, avarice you reap what you sow. I guess my rant is more about what I hear from friends who are like we are screwed anyway so what is the point. The real issue is there are always problems and you only get ahead if you solve them and the solutions are obvious. The problem is most of our leaders are corrupted and refuse to change.
