One thing that I find odd as I have aged is that so many things seem fake. I am not trying to single anyone out because most things are none of my business. I guess when I noticed how people had to be in air conditioning, then they got in their air conditioned car and drove to the air conditioned gym. Even saying this is pretty juvenile but I would notice that they had an aversion to anything real.
Even walking was a chore, walking up stairs, whatever. The real observation I had was the variables in reality. If you walk around the block for example the terrain always varies. If you do a walking machine the speed can vary or even the tilt but you are mostly on an even surface. There are no rocks or small pits, grass, weeds or whatever. You can make your body look good, like tone certain muscle groups at the gym.
A certain well formed muscle that looks like a gym form isn’t necessarily that useful in real world cases. If it looks good, what good does it do? I am just talking about practical things like walking in terrain, muscles from reality will trump gym muscle. Dynamic tension for example doesn’t require machines, tools or anything. All you need to do is move dynamically to tone the muscle. It won’t give you sexy muscles but useful muscles.
I guess I think of gym muscle in a lot of cases as laboratory muscle, the gym is the science lab, the supplements steroids or whatever. I am not saying don’t go to the gym because who am I to tell anyone what to do. What I am saying is go walk around the block in the variable temperatures, the humidity, the stairs, the stair that is slightly broken. It is all calling you, reality wants you back.
Also I get the gym muscle appeal, it looks good, probably helps get people in the bedroom and they can do their cardio with a happy ending. The main thing I am getting at is the aversion to real stuff. Ok so the gym is real but it is designed and curated. Reality is a complete freak show in comparison and you have macro and micro climates, all of these variables that can’t be curated and best of all it is free.
The fake thing for me though runs deeper, I don’t see things the way I saw them when I was younger. You can’t always be genuine or always trying to burst other peoples bubbles. I normally say very little in my dealings with people because a lot of the time people will see what you say through a different lens. Mostly if someone says oh so you mean this I normally point out what I mean by pointing out the obvious.
So I find you come in at one angle, their lens sees something that is actually not there, I guess you can’t call it bias but it normally a collective view. Then you spell it out but really even though they know the information was not from that place they thought (that form) and it is from somewhere else it disappears because it is from another place again. A place people don’t think about or maybe even know could exist.
To give context I was talking about the nine chambers but in the words of a natural cycle. The top chamber is in fact moving straight from a peak to a negative cycle. They said oh so it is tall poppy syndrome and I said no it is about appreciating where you are in the natural cycle and accepting yourself. I mean the knowledge though natural and empowering has been lost and is lacking in discourse or any type of lens available to people.
So rather than seeing the folly of the peak position people aim for even though, I remember a famous artist saying it isn’t what you think it is. The fabrication, the lack of reality, the lack of acceptance creates a false hope. A dream that even if reached will not fulfill or empower, but trap, exploit and limit what should be a self that should have been happily accepted at any position in space and time.
