Even though I explore ideas around technology I am more interested in the propaganda around science and progress. Comics are where imaginations grow and almost balloon into tropes built into imperialist and colonial mindsets. It is an incredible moment of freedom to let yourself explore these ideas yet they are bound in corporate post-colonial systems. That isn’t meant to be a criticism but just a bounding of ideas that open us to a strictly controlled system.
Fantasies become a break from reality and if you follow the logic of stories or series the cycle just never ends. Any human behaviour also never really ends so art and reality must coexist. I feel personally that reality should be prioritised but it doesn’t allow that slippage of entertainment. Reality also has slippage points where things break from logic or physics. Yet generally slippage or entertainment is a great way to control and create cosmologies of control.
It seems ridiculous to insist comics for example are some kind of mind control or conspiracy of control but the rupturing of so many cultures and the replacement of their cosmologies is real. I suppose the reality is a replacement and is just a way to expand economies, yet it isn’t just about money, not always. Like I said and I am not the first to say it of course, control is key. I suppose for me to say when I wrote my semi science fiction story ‘Precision’ it just wrote itself because of the field of garbage that surrounds us.
David Lynch would always say ideas are just floating around and you just catch them. No shit, we are bombarded with bullshit our whole lives and sadly it is entertaining. I am not trying to spoil peoples fun but it is ‘depressing’ (the wank factor of frequencies), it is anxiety inducing (the wank factor of psychology/psychiatry DSMV chains) and not to forget endlessly violent (endless pointless discordant noise field). Yet you start to enjoy the chains, look my chains are one seamless anodised aluminium casing!!!!
Don’t get me wrong you can’t switch off the world and try and go back in time but just for a moment let’s talk about coating systems. Why is it that the most advanced coating system ever devised is over a thousand years old? Why does technology from over a thousand years ago (mineral silicates, ie potash) have science in it that crystallises into cementitious surfaces and binds to it? Yet here we are in the world of petroleum that is celebrated for its advanced technology that at best will last 15 to 20 years when mineral silicates can last for hundreds of years?
The short answer is what David Lynch was getting at, the ideas drifting around us like nanoparticle soup or microplastics just being restrictive and ployed or played to send us over a massive cliff. I mean all of this technology worship that I partake in for me is more just a dystopian conversation with anyone who needs that escape. I mean you have to escape to survive, you need that moment. Imagine if I started painting some kind of Pre-Raphaelite idle, I mean it’s almost worse.

Nice art and an inspiring range of words I’ve read just now – keep it up man!
Thank you. I will have to check your blog soon too.
