The sh*ttest society of them all

It is always good to talk to people you know and get something of their life experience. Exceptional people can have the most bizarre and jarring childhoods. These experiences either stunt them or they grow into very wise people with an understanding of others. Everyone shares their knowledge differently, I tend to write, some people paint it varies.

You think of the everyday tragedies that are simply part of life. For example I was told of the mother and son in the housing commissions whose three year olds breakfast was an ice cream and a can of Coca Cola. What kind of breakfast is that? I remember my own childhood where I had difficulties but I could always get a solid meal.

My friend said he spent a lot of time at other friends’ homes whose mothers fed him as his Dad was a ‘tripper’. His mother died when he was very young and he appreciated the kindness. His friends for example didn’t really appreciate what they had, for them their mother was annoying for example. Yet what he would have given for a mother in his life.

Another sad part of the current social welfare system is most people’s only interaction with the state is through the police. The police come in and arrest people who should really be receiving welfare. Yet the welfare system is designed to be difficult and opaque. People are unmedicated and homeless causing all sorts of minor and major tragedies.

The state is never held accountable for creating this environment, they are hands off at all stages and levels of governing. What are they really governing anyway? Wars? Is that all they can invest in? Yet the state is in full extraction mode. Small businesses are bled dry through taxes not to mention very high rents. In this kind of setting the police are heavily armed and the ones most in trouble will simply be beaten down by them.
