Why can’t you just be you?

Over many years I have painted and drawn whether aerosol or whatever. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars over decades making things. This has kept me out of trouble and on a constructive trajectory since I can remember. Only if society could dedicate so much more to constructive ends. Rather than be about amassing wealth or status we could dedicate ourselves to what we love and positive ends.

We have had graffiti programs over decades but really they have been anti-graffiti programs, even if I think of some of the most giving people to the community fundamentally they wanted you to go in other avenues. They wanted to make aerosol culture something you can live off rather than something to live for. To me the problem is the system as it goes against so many cultures.

This is a macro and micro issue in that cultures are meant to be killed off for profits, money and efficiency. It isn’t about people or what they want but the competition they can create and the desperate fight to fill the wealthiest pockets. Think about it everything you do is fundamentally about changing yourself and position in society rather than doing what you want to do. You may think you want a house on the harbour but really you should want people to be valued outside of positioning.

You should want people to do what they do rather than play the bigger game of status and positioning. Fundamentally everything is about location and positions within space and time but if every position was valued as a place on a map worth being in we wouldn’t need to compete so hard for things that are kept out of reach. If it isn’t within your reach, let us say a billion dollars then what are all those billions of dollars doing than not being part of your reality and community. Why shouldn’t it be? Because it is kept from you to keep you chasing what you don’t currently have and never really will.
