Last night at Qigong Master Dongyang was talking about Wu Wei and Yu Wei. A lot of people think Wu Wei is more important as it means roughly do no evil or do nothing and things will happen for you.
Yu Wei roughly means do good but is more about making an effort. In the early stages you need to keep your mind on making an effort. Yet you also don’t want to overdo it. The effort has to be appropriate.
The effort can’t be too much or too little. Eventually as you find the appropriate level of effort you may achieve Wu Wei or non striving. Things will just happen of their own accord effortlessly.
This dynamic confuses a lot of people and some people think I had better just do nothing and the right things will fall into place. Yet really you need to start with effort to achieve the level of non striving.
We also heard about flexibility (relating to time) from the Master and how you need to find time that is appropriate for you. This could be in relation to training Qigong or any activity really.
Finding the time within your own biological clock for example is more important than pushing the accepted times as laid out in feng shui. We tend to have our own time that is an individual time.
