Sea of Bullshit

Qigong is a diamond in a sea of bullshit. You don’t find Qigong, it finds you. With that in mind I won’t push it on anyone, no not even you. People find ways to cope in their own time or through things that interest them. My old Karate teachers were doing Qigong outside of their own school. This is part of high level martial artists expanding their understanding of martial arts and fundamental to their growth.

In Karate when I was training the senior trainer taught me how to control tension in the body. I have talked about this countless times on this blog but it is important because I managed to overcome crippling anxiety. When I finally went to Qigong I took it for granted. I didn’t really appreciate what I had found. Even though it was blissful I assumed that was just how things were normally.

When I got into family life and let my health go I learned otherwise. As my health unravelled and I found myself stuck years later I wanted that bliss back. It took a long time for things to change and really it was a valuable lesson for me. I realised how important bodily control is, how helpful Qigong is in managing stress and anxiety. Now I couldn’t live without it.

People find ways to navigate the damaging and meaningless social norms we are immersed in. Yet really very few people can find peace of mind within their own bodies. They prop themselves up with all sorts of conflations and earn themselves a position as a cherry on top of the compost heap. I don’t want to take anything away from anybody but people are more than happy to take away your sense of value while they busily find ways to belittle you.

Worse still in this sea of bullshit I claim exists are people who have no way to navigate their way through hoping they can find some peace or direction. My point of view is quite cynical but I was also lost in this sea of rubbish for many years. After many trials and tribulations I can see the most important lesson I learned from Qigong, that lesson is you can only help yourself and become your own master.
