Grids and distortion

Recently I started thinking about the grid-like structure of digital content on Instagram, at least as far as presentation goes on profiles. I chose a grid structure for my website on desktop computers and it will default to a single columned table on mobile platforms and I wondered why that was attractive.

I decided to look at some theory on grids and found neurological papers on proposed grid-like structures in the brains of animals. I am still reading one paper but what I learned was how grids can create geometrical forms that can propose biological rhythms that accept input within pulses.

The grid of information folds in on itself and creates a torus that to my mind leaves the empty hole in the middle as an empty consciousness. This isn’t what the paper is saying, it just popped in my head. What if thinking essentially was driven by a void with information moving around it?

I remember vaguely reading a quote about the loop of consciousness by Pinker a few years ago. I guess that is where that came from, like I said I am only guessing. I should finish the paper and see what else I can gauge from it. I downloaded another paper on the same subject so I will see how they differ.

Why I wanted to understand the grid a bit better was why a point of content like a grid can be so heavily distorted in social media interactions. Why is it so easy to be misunderstood/controlled and or understood and uncontrolled in the world of social media. I mean how does some nutcase live feed a mass shooting?

How do you allow and disallow what essentially is inputted in a table of information that becomes a huge distortion of reality/information? Is that just how the mind works? We do distort reality through biological consciousness.
