Never ending war

The veto of the US on the ceasefire of Gaza shows how much money is at stake in de-escalating the current mass killing of civilians in Gaza (weapons sales). When the war on terror started some time ago I remember being on a harbour cruise and a friend of a friend mentioned that the US could take a different path other than war.

If the US produces anything other than Hollywood movies it is weapons. China for example produces almost every product on its own soil whereas America doesn’t have the same production power overall. Yet one area it still produces on its own soil is weapons. So all in all the US foreign policies over the past twenty years have promoted wars and that feeds into their economy.

The whole idea of a market based economy and its ongoing effect of exporting disasters and promoting the killing of people of developing nations is telling. It should be no surprise that the US would want to protect its own economy which is not particularly healthy over humanitarian concerns. This has been an ongoing position for two decades yet the problem for the US is its ongoing decline.

In our own media bubble we are not as aware of the position the rest of the world is taking. That position is that the US can no longer be a mediator on the world stage as it has adopted a position of bias and self interest. An embarrassing protectionism of what it calls values which are anti-human and pro war. None of this can be openly discussed because it is too damaging and the facade of freedom and democracy falls into disrepute.

There is an old Chinese idiom that every disaster is an opportunity. The US at one stage found this position beneficial, even though the same narrative has played out for decades it has caused irreparable damage. The opportunities are there for the US to keep wars going, the real solution to the US stalemate is too hard to address. That is the expansion of production power which was what the trade war with China was really about.

Maybe the truth of the matter is the US can’t change, it has lost its foundation and ability to adjust to a changing world. The corruption and top-heavy nature of its economy and system can only lead to collapse. This scenario takes time and in the meantime we see the veils fall away and the slow crumbling of what we thought we knew become a deadly show of oppressive force and mass killing in the name of economic gain.

All in all that was all the war on terror was about, the oppression and killing of people who couldn’t defend themselves from advanced weapons.
