My Qigong routine over the years has always kept me focused on positive life goals. Normally in class we talk about current events, politics, diet, weapons and feng shui theory for at least an hour while having tea. I find that I am not bothered about everyday types of societal norms like going to pubs or sports or any of the stuff that people tend to get into.
I suppose that I live for the rewards of clean living and the benefits of Qigong so I feel like I am living that lifestyle and I feel content within myself. I don’t wish my lifestyle on anyone because essentially Taoism can be seen as selfish compared to Buddhism for example. The guide in Tibet was saying that Buddhism wants world peace as opposed to having a long life or self centred benefits which is more Taoist.
So Taoism in comparison looks selfish but in fact it is self focused because you learn to master yourself and control your desires. If someone for example was focused on yin energy and taking drugs, self gratification and taking advantage of people for gain the yin energy will want to get paid back for its services. So the protagonist who called on the yin energy for personal gain will be in debt and some of these types turn into a shell of their former selves because the yin energy wants a payback.
On the other hand if yang energy is used for help in a more positive turn then the yang energy won’t seek recompense and there is no debt to pay. So the lesson here is if something is a positive request for positive gain only positive things will happen.
