Food and diet

Something that KRS1 talks about in his book ‘The Gospel of Hip Hop’ is how eating nourishing food produces nourishing ideas. Food is the fuel we need to be in top performance. My QiGong trainer Master Dongyang wrote a book called ‘Tao and Diet’ available on Kindle and paperback. Both writers share ideas on food, and that the term food is misleading because not everything that can be eaten is actually nourishing.

A lot of food is actually not nourishing and will damage your health, with bad food comes bad ideas. The cycle is hard to break unless people become aware of what real food is. Also Master Dongyang makes a Western audience more aware of Yin and Yang theories in regard to food. In a way KRS1 is doing the same job but without ancient Chinese wisdom but observations he has made of American mass production of food.

Yin and Yang theory is at once complex yet also simple, it relies on natural processes and systems in the world around us. These are controlled by seasons, weather, micro and macro conditions and humans who are immersed in geographical locations. What is worrying and both authors address is the reliance on pesticides, hormones and other modern mass farming methods that damage our food and health.

Even worse is mass produced food that has flavour but no nutrition or any benefit other than turning a dollar for fast food companies and the medical industry. A system that creates problems with prescribed solutions. The root of the issues are never addressed because as the saying goes, every disaster is an opportunity. Yet the opportunity isn’t for the victim, the victim mostly being ignorant of the mechanism they are unwittingly caught in.
