It is difficult because sometimes I dislike what I do but I persevere, some work is a bit ugly but sometimes they are the most technical. You can’t please everyone and sometimes not even yourself but you need to except that not everything can be eye candy. My last two pieces have been somewhat challenging in that they stave off stylization for raw expression. Stylization can be a bad trap to fall into, you can just produce a likable product devoid of any depth. Have had the specter of stylization in the back of my mind and so have kept searching through layers for something a bit raw. Overall I have achieved something not so much beautiful but challenging, my work will fall back into some stylized features you can’t keep it at bay for ever so let’s see where we end up next week when I paint, the journey continues.
