Derek is a graffiti artist from Sydney who studied art at the College of fine arts. Derek’s practice is eclectic though his main interest is graffiti. “I studied Media arts for two years then studied Painting and drawing for two years. I use computers to exhibit video work, I make digital images, I paint, I draw and I do graffiti”. Derek has had his aerosol work acknowledged in publications on street art and still does work around Sydney.

“The real challenge for me was finding one work I wanted to interpret, I just have this back catalogue of stuff that I think looks good in book form, the viewer can look through the book and maybe wonder what the connection is or just enjoy the pictures. The synthesised voice describes other possible worlds, mainly of graffiti being written on the viewers mind. The canvas works are there as a playful element at least I hope so, they explore possible paintings and maybe help imagine other possible canvas works in the future.”
