I keep in touch with graffiti in Sydney, as soon as I put up something to do with art….silence. I still do traditional graffiti because I like it but I can think in other ways. I enjoy thinking in different ways. But some graff writers can only think that way, they won’t allow it. This is what pisses zap off. I find it weird, why not be open? Why not think outside the code? Maybe they feel challenged which is why I see so many negative comments about paste ups and hipsters, I mean not every street artist has a mo and is a hipster. I personally don’t find the graff code that bad by why the rigid stance….battle cry!!!!!!! It is sad to see guys painting walls with testosterone instead of out of genuine creativity, it is easy to go with the crowd, to drink alcohol and stick your chest out but you can’t just produce a bubble to live in…there is a big scary world out there and whether you like it or not your in it. You can hide but eventually you lose touch which is what is happening to some writers. I could just dismiss them as morons but I still feel a connection but not an obligation.
